ELECTED FOR CHANGE
Barack Obama’s acceptance speech (Grant Park, Chicago, Nov. 4th, 2008)
"And to all those who have wondered if America’s beacon still burns as bright : Tonight, we proved once more that the true strength of our nation comes not from the might of our arms or the scale of our wealth, but from the enduring power of our ideals : democracy, liberty, opportunity and unyielding hope."

« THAT THEY LIVED : African American Women Who Changed The World »
Lola (from the Twitter/X post) wants her classmates to discover famous African-American women. For that reason, she’s calling on you to write a magazine on the occasion of Black History Month. On each page, the pupils will be able to discover a famous woman or a masterpiece. Remember that the articles are DESIGNED TO BE UNDERSTOOD BY ENGLISH-SPEAKING 8-YEAR-OLDS, so they need to be simply phrased.
➤ If you choose to write about a famous woman, your article must include a short biography explaining who the person is or was, what she is known for and how this woman managed to make her mark on society and work for recognition of the cause of African-American people and Black women.
➤ If you choose to write about a work of art, your article must include the following elements : The type of artwork (+ author and date), the cultural context, the author’s intentions (and maybe why the artist chose this woman), what are your impressions and feelings about this work and is there a form of symbolism ?
Remember : you must add the links to your sources at the bottom of your article.
